The impact of former footballers giving back to the community in Venda cannot be underestimated. Led by Victor Sivhidzho, a former Tuks player and who represented South Africa at U23 level, the project aims to provide opportunities for young people through the power of sports.

Sivhidzho, along with other former soccer players like Christopher Netshidzivhe, Black Leopards Coach Solly Luvhengo, Olympian Nkhiphitheni Matombo, Magic Ratshivhadelo, Eric Ramavhale, Mata Ligege, and Mudi Ligege, organized a Youth development soccer tournament in 2019, and the event has been increasingly successful with each passing year.
This tournament is more than just about playing soccer; it is about developing and promoting social qualities, community integration, and providing a safe space for the youth. It also serves as a platform for talent identification and skills development. Not only does it provide an opportunity for the young players to showcase their skills, but it also instills in them important life skills that will serve them well beyond the football field.

The impact of this initiative extends beyond the tournament itself. The community has rallied behind the event, donating items such as soccer balls, gloves, and cones, and volunteering their time to ensure its success. The involvement of local government officials, including the office of the councillor, has also added credibility and support to the initiative.
Looking ahead, Sivhidzho and his team have even bigger plans for the future. They hope to expand the tournament and incorporate other community activities such as back-to-school drives and fundraising for essential items for those less fortunate. The aim is to make a meaningful impact on the community, not just in terms of sports, but in the lives of the youth who participate.

Ultimately, the goal of this project is to provide opportunities for those less privileged, and to see local youngsters fulfill their potential. Sivhidzho expressed his hope that some of the youth identified through this initiative could go on to represent the national team in the future.
The involvement of former football players in giving back to their community is not just about organizing a tournament; it is about investing in the future and creating opportunities for the next generation. With a vision to see more business participation and partnership in this project, the hope is that it will continue to grow and positively impact the lives of young people in Venda for years to come.
