Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced Scottland FC as their opponents for the third edition of the Toyota Cup, with the Zimbabwean champions set to travel to South Africa for the annual pre-season showcase.
According to information released by Kaizer Chiefs on their official website, the 2026 Toyota Cup was officially launched at the club’s headquarters in Naturena on Tuesday afternoon. The match will be played on Sunday, 26 July, at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg.
The annual fixture has become an important part of Amakhosi’s preparations for the new campaign, providing supporters with an early glimpse of the squad while also combining football, entertainment and community initiatives through the Heart on Sleeve CSI programme.
Scottland FC arrive in South Africa as reigning Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions and boast several familiar faces, including former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona and experienced Zimbabwe international Khama Billiat.
The encounter is expected to provide Chiefs supporters with their first look at the club’s new coach and technical team ahead of the 2026/27 season. Fans will also get to see the team’s new home and away kits in action for the first time.
Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung expressed her excitement about the return of the tournament for a third consecutive year.
“We are delighted to welcome back the Toyota Cup for the third consecutive year. The match is important preparation for the team and new coach before we kick off the 2026/27 season,” Motaung said in a statement published by the club.
She also thanked Toyota South Africa Motors, the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace and the Royal Family for their continued support of the event.
The Toyota Cup was first introduced in 2024 when Chiefs hosted Tanzanian giants Young Africans before welcoming Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko for the 2025 edition. The club confirmed that the popular legends match curtain-raiser will once again form part of this year’s festivities.
Chiefs have encouraged supporters to secure their tickets early as anticipation builds for another edition of the Toyota Cup, which promises to offer an exciting preview of the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.
