Official: Kaizer Chiefs Sign Bafana Bafana Goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner After Sekhukhune United Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 28-year-old joins Amakhosi as a free agent after recently parting ways with Sekhukhune United, where he established himself as one of the Betway Premiership’s most consistent goalkeepers. Leaner became available after Babina Noko opted not to extend his contract, bringing his three-year stay at the Limpopo-based club to an end.

The Bafana Bafana international attracted interest from several clubs, including Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu, but Kaizer Chiefs won the race for the highly-rated shot-stopper’s signature.

The Ajax Cape Town graduate arrives at Naturena with valuable top-flight experience and is expected to add quality competition in Chiefs’ goalkeeping department as new head coach Fernando da Cruz continues rebuilding the squad for the upcoming campaign.

Leaner’s arrival marks another statement of intent from Amakhosi as they look to challenge for domestic honours and make a strong return to continental football in the new season.
