Bantu Mzwakali, the former Swallows midfielder who recently made the move to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Shaeib after departing Georgian side FC Dila, has spoken out about his aspirations, the level of football in his new environment, and the potential for a return to his homeland.
“This move, bro, to me it’s something big, this is a place I always wanted to go and play at,” expressed Mzwakali. “As you know, the age, I’m not young anymore, and the football is good here. This is a country that’s trying to develop its football structure, and maybe in years to come, we will be talking about Saudi Arabia in terms of the best football league in the world.”

Mzwakali’s ambitions in his new setting are clear. “I came here to play, hoping to score more goals and possibly get to play for one of the big clubs. To achieve that, I am going to need to work hard, and it won’t be easy, but I am up for the challenge.”
Reflecting on his experiences in Sweden and Georgia, Mzwakali emphasized the growth he has undergone. “Sweden and Georgia helped me so much. I can say I have grown now, I understand what football needs, even though in some countries it’s not that easy, but we keep grinding, hoping for the best.”

When asked about the possibility of returning to South Africa, Mzwakali expressed a desire to remain abroad for the time being. “Haha, maybe one day, my last season before I retire, but for now, I would love to be away for some time, you know.”
Mzwakali’s optimism and determination to succeed in his new environment are evident, and as he embarks on this new chapter in his career, his fans eagerly anticipate the impact he will make in Saudi Arabian football.
