“I think the first thing about Sinoxolo is that he’s coachable,” Kopo said, reflecting on the player’s journey. “He listens, and that’s why he’s improved so much. He’s versatile and has great capacity as a box-to-box midfielder. He can push forward, track back, and defend well.”
Since donning the blue of Chippa United, Kwayiba has been a mainstay in the team, playing 24 games and netting six crucial goals. This impressive form didn’t go unnoticed, and in October 2024, he received a late call-up to Bafana Bafana, replacing Jayden Adams. In a fairy-tale moment, Kwayiba played in front of his home crowd and family against Congo, marking a milestone in his career.
For Kopo, Kwayiba’s development has been deeply rewarding. The coach made tactical adjustments early in the season to maximize the midfielder’s impact, transitioning him into a more advanced number eight role. The results have been emphatic.
“This season, we adjusted our formation slightly to accommodate him,” Kopo explained. “He was struggling earlier, as teams were defending deep, but now he has more room to operate. What sets him apart is his ability to score goals as a midfielder—that’s gold.”
Kwayiba’s knack for finding the net has earned him praise, with Kopo emphasizing the qualities that make the player special. “When we coach our players, we focus on three key areas: do you score goals, do you create goals, or do you stop goals? For an attacking player like Sinoxolo, scoring and creating goals are vital, and he’s been excelling in that regard.”
